Fighting for Love

We seem to be fighting for love more than ever, yet, we don’t seem to be committed to true love.

Fighting for love is more than getting your way. It’s a fight against your own desires. It’s a fight of wills.

It’s a fight to keep a promise.

If we fight so hard for people to come together, perhaps we can fight just as hard for them not to grow apart.

We fight to protect what is most dear to us—which is usually US. We protect ourselves. But true love is not self-seeking.  True love doesn’t fail.

I stand behind love: sacrificial, selfless, a-beauty-like-no-other-love.

The kind of love in which grows patience instead of resentment.

The kind of love that restores. The kind of love that chooses not to get bored, but rather, to cherish. The kind of love that doesn’t come and go as it pleases.

Love is not just a feeling. Feelings can be wonderful, but they are trivial. They cannot be trusted. We cannot follow our feelings if we want to live a full life. We must distinguish between long-term decisions and short term gratification. Choose true love.

Fighting to be together is only the start. The real celebration is those who have walked in pure, unadulterated love.
Love is patient.
Love is kind.
Love does not envy.
It is not proud.
It is not rude.
It is not arrogant.
It is not provoked.
It does not take into account a wrong endured.
It does not rejoice at injustice.
It rejoices with the truth.
Love bears all things,
Believes all things,
Hopes all things,
Endures all things.
Love never fails.
