HONESTY

HOW TO KICK INSECURITY

You can do this.

She’s confident, courageous and unwavering in her faith in God.

She cared for her people and loved her husband.

She risked her own life to save the lives of her people.

She had favor on her.

She was chosen among hundreds of beautiful women to marry the King and she was seemingly unmoved.

Who is this girl? Β You may have already guessed it. Β I am referring to one my Biblical favorites, Esther!

If you ask me, she had more confidence than the average person, especially considering the process it took to be β€œchosen” by King Xerxes.Β  It’s as if she were a contestant on a *popular dating TV show.*Β  Scores of beautiful women completely decked out in latest fashion and the best in beauty…each aiming for the approval of the King.Β Β I don’t know about you, but I think it sounds like drama waiting to happen. Β Oh and did I mention Esther was given the largest suite? Β  Her favor was unsurpassed.

In this situation Esther appeared to be undeniably secure in the midst of competition.

Why was she so confident?Β Β

I kept wondering this myself so I prayed about it and I believe the Lord showed me some things from this story.

As women, there are constant opportunities to feel threatened, misguided and to lose confidence in our purpose and potential.Β Β The truth is, in order to THRIVE we must be driven by something bigger than having nice things, perfect hair or being liked (I’m not implying everyone falls into these categories!).

“She was driven by purpose,” I believe came to my heart distinctly. Β That is why she was so confident.

We must be driven by PURPOSE. The purpose rooted in the pursuit of following God’s plan for our lives.

To be so driven by purpose is to take the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth.Β  It requires sacrifice, perseverance and we cannot be concerned with what people think. Β But oh, the fulfillment in your heart will be so great. Β It’s the greatest adventure: living for God unashamed and unhindered by insecurity. Β When we are driven by a purpose greater than ourselves our eyes are directed off of us and onto others. Β THIS will take care of many insecurities. Β When we are constantly focusing on ourselves and feeling as though we don’t measure up to others we are asking for insecurity.Β

This is an invasion I have had to fight.

I finally realized how much insecurity held me back, not only from my own contentment, but also from reaching out to people. Β I’m done with it. Β If it starts to come back, I know my thoughts aren’t in the right place. Β Believe you are who God says you are.

We can do this.

There is so much God has for you to do. Β Don’t waste your time being hindered anymore. Shed light on any insecurity you may have. Β It’s not worth it.

I pray that no insecurity would hinder you.Β  I pray you become fervent in your resolve for freedom, realizing that whatever is hindering you from living confidently is not from God. Β We are free by Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Β This is what is true. Β We must choose to walk in it.

Maybe you’re still figuring out what your “purpose” is. Β In the meantime, read your Bible, pray and listen intently; also, giving, loving and serving are in essence, part of everyone’s purpose so, do that.

I believe in you.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for theΒ LordΒ your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

“Where there is no vision the people perish.” Β Proverbs 28:19

“For I amΒ confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it untilΒ the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6

“ButΒ a woman whoΒ fears theΒ Lord, she shall be praised.” Β Proverbs 31:30b

  1. Hi Annie! I’m a young teen and have been following you and Colton for years! In love you both and hope for a marriage like your one day! I appreciate this article and views from a fellow Christian!

I don’t know if your taking requests or anything but if you are…. Maybe you could write about how God views makeup??? Maybe explain the pros and cons of it? I hope this makes sense. As a teen its hard to know what kinds of popular trends are okay for Christians, and which ones aren’t.
